Abbotsford, Dunedin

With such a gorgeous view to the hills and trees of Abbotsford, this wonderful home called for a new contemporary country style kitchen, balancing classic elements such as shaker style cabinetry to modern accents like the use of metal, concrete and streamlined lights.

The kitchen cabinetry is lacquered in Resene Cinder, painting the entire space in a calming and elegant navy, matching nicely the lilac and bluey tones of the Caesarstone benchtop. Some quirky details such as the butcher’s block at the end of the island and the mesh and metal cabinet sliding doors, add personality and fun to this homely kitchen.

The big rustic dining table is perfect for family gatherings and the vintage pendant lights with their round shape play a nice contrast to the rectangular and straight lines of the room.

The butler’s pantry takes inspiration from the kitchen while maintaining its own character. The functional stainless-steel benchtop is lifted by the soft colours of the cabinetry and the warmth of the timber shelves, proving that modern design and materials can be very good friends with classic elements and strokes of colour.
